JCW Catback Testing on a 2012 JCW Coupe

Its been a while since we had a new Mini part to dyno test and tune and this part is well worth the wait. The ALTA JCW Catback (fits Cooper S as well) replaces the entire exhaust system from the downpipe to the back of the car. This means you keep your stock downpipe which is the ONLY downpipe that doesn’t throw check engine lights or cause other emissions related problems. Just like our catback for the other cars, its [...Continue Reading...]

3" Exhaust Too Big for your Turbo Mini?

There seems to be a cyclical debate about 3″ exhaust on the 1.6L Mini Turbo cars being too big, or too heavy, or not “Needed”.  My favorite argument is “its not needed so why do it?”  That could be said about any aftermarket part.  None of these things are needed so why do it at all!  Simple, people want to have more fun with their cars, which involves tinkering, customizing, making more HP and making the car handle better.  In a [...Continue Reading...]

ALTA Billet 56 Turbo Upgrade

Until now, there have have not been many options for upgraded turbos. The newest and best option for a turbo upgrade is the new ALTA Billet 56 MCS Turbo. This has the benefits of the stock turbo in that it bolts on with no additional parts or modifications to parts. It makes more HP than the JCW turbo (roughly 15% more), the responsiveness is very similar to the JCW turbo, while costing only slightly more. The question is “Is [...Continue Reading...]

07+ Cooper S Intake System Design

Cold Air Intake System Design and Testing Our intake system started out simple using a combination of silicon steel and some other sheet metal parts.  In dealing with other cars with MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensors we knew it was important to keep diameters and orientation of the sensor similar to stock.  Looking to make the intake the best we could, and knowing customers would be wanting a true cold air intake we starting working toward that goal. But we [...Continue Reading...]

R56/JCW Aluminum Turbo Inlet Pipe

This all-new R56 Turbo Inlet Hard Pipe replaces our all-silicone turbo inlet hose which was a staple of our R56 parts line up.  We have taken our old version and stepped it up a notch by making it out of combination of CNC’ed aluminum and mandrel bends to create and even bigger and better, not to mention nicer looking, R56 turbo inlet hose.  Choose between red wrinkle and black wrinkle finishes that match the new style R56 Cold Air Intakes. [...Continue Reading...]

2009 JCW Test and Tune

We finally got around to retesting all our parts on the new 09 JCW.  WE have very good results on our 07 and 08 R56 Minis when we tested every single ALTA part back to back.  To this day we have proven these results over and over again with customer cars and new R56’s we purchased. You will see below once again we have proven the same parts on this new 09 JCW. We have learned  a few things over [...Continue Reading...]
